On a yellow piece of construction paper, have students trace a circle (about the size of the top of a bowl). Then add eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers.
The kids made the mane of the lion by tracing and cutting out their hand prints. They will need about 8, depending on their hand size. After they are cut out, have students use brown water color paint to add some color to their yellow hands (but students should not cover it all with brown paint).
A large class lion can be made using everyone’s handprints. This makes a great bulletin board.
