Have the students write a winter story involving mittens and using your own criteria.
The mittens should be traced to a piece of card stock and cut out. Then the students use yarn to design their mittens. Students must glue single yarn 
strips next to each other to create their patterns. Excess yarn sticking off the sides can be trimmed off. Connect the mittens with a single piece of yarn. Both mittens should look the same.
