Classroom Tip- get on the right foot with parents

From Oklahoma Education Association

Start off on the right foot with your students’ parents! Make sure your 1st contact with them is a positive one. You’re much more likely to garner support when you need to address an issue later on. Call & talk to them about something positive or write a note telling them about their child’s progress or behavior. Remember, they’re sending you the best children they have!

I agree that a personalized positive note/phone call to each student’s homee is a wise way to start the school year. You can also inform parents about Back-To-School night during the contact.
