Animal Writing and Art- lesson for elementary grades, Eric Carle style

Have your students write cinquain poems, a paragraph, or any type of writing you choose about their favorite animals. Then create an art project in the style of children’s book author and illustrator Eric Carle.
*First,  divide the class into groups to paint the main color of each page.
*A day later, have the students go back and add splashes, stripes and swirls in second and third colors.
*Then, they are ready to paint their background (sky and land) on a large poster board. *Finally, they will cut out their animal and its habitat from the painted papers they had made.
The pictures come out really cute and everyone had a great time!
